Tennis News: Diego Schwartzman plans to carry out extra training sessions after the worldwide corona virus has caused a number of tournaments to be cancel.

Like most other players, Diego Schwartzman flew to Los Angeles in hopes of returning to competition after injury hampered his steps at the tournament held in South America.

A few days after landing, Schwartzman has to book flights back to his home after the tournament in Indian Wells was cancel. This is the result of the outbreak of the corona virus which is now describe as a pandemic.

Speaking to La Nacion, Schwartzman admitted that he thought it was a joke.

“I am not happy with the way Indian Wells was cancel, in large part. Because I landed in Los Aneles on Sunday (08/03) and learn that the tournament was cancel through messages from a number of coaches such as Facundo Lugones and Fede Coria who had arrived at the tournament venue first first, “explained Schwartzman.

“I even checked if it was April Fool’s Day, I think they were joking with me. The next day, the healthiest thing is to cancel the Miami Open. “

“I understand if they need a few days to decide, they are also waiting for the opinion of the players, the government and everything that is happening, but the wisest thing must be done immediately.”

Now, the world of sports faces a unique situation where the pandemic forces most of the sports tournaments to be postpone and cancel to see how the pandemic is handle.

With six weeks vacuum before the ATP tournament was held again, Schwartzman chose to prepare for a longer training session.

“We will pretend that this season has not yet begun and we will prepare ourselves in preseason for three or four weeks,” Schwartzman added.

“And We have to think that this season will be a little shorter than usual and we have to adapt too.”

The ATP tournament is schedule to be hold again on 27 April with the convening of level 250 tournaments at Estoril and Munich. Although the date is consider as an optimistic step if you look at the current situation.
