Diego Schwartzman recorded a crucial victory to qualify at the ATP Finals when he slaughtered Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-2 in the Vienna Open semifinals.

Argentine national secured all four break points he faced in order to topple the runner up in the 2008 Vienna season, Monfils after 74 minutes. The victory was Schwartzman’s 39th victory this season, matching his achievements in the 2017 season.

“I’m very, very happy. Before arriving here, the last few weeks in China and Antwerp were not so good. Now, I feel really good again in the field. I feel solid, patient, aggressive, and focused, “Schwartzman admitted.

“I try to do everything neatly. What a positive thing for me to get this kind of confidence again. Doing tournaments well like this at the end of the season is a very good thing. “

The 33-year-old Monfils surpassed David Goffin and Fabio Fognini and occupies the tenth position of Race To London by getting 90 points after winning in the Vienna quarterfinals this week.

Monfils is currently only 310 points adrift of Matteo Berrettini who is in eighth position as well as the protruding position of Race To London.
