Sierra Bennett suffering from cerebral palsy disease when she was just a six years old girl. She had only few option available to select in sports activities. She rarely could play and had very hard time in selecting the sports to play. Bennett find awesome when she found out that a bunch a high schools boys who prefer to play the soccer game with any kid show up. She had such a good enthusiasm towards soccer program and shares some of the special and heartfelt memories of her with us.
Bennett’s Soccer Story
Now Bennett is 17 years old and it has been decade playing soccer at McKay. She responded that the soccer program provides her a pretty good opportunity to move forward and do something for the school and for herself. She adds that she cannot do much and go forward but finds true joy playing though having obstacles because she is disabled. The coach of north Salem boys soccer team Rich Swartzentruber has been bringing his team for past 17 years to support the children and kids who are struggling physically and mentally at the Salem Indoor Soccer Center Stadium.
Her Struggle in the center
She feels awesome to be there with those guys playing soccer and she is much excited about that feelings. Handling and kicking the soccer through cones in a drill isn’t a something a big thing for most children of today’s society but it means a lot to Bennett. There have been some heartfelt time when she had to come to the soccer center in wheelchair and walker. The boys there helps here to kick the oversized ball while she is in wheelchair or walker. Sometimes she get so much tired of playing soccer with the support device and she had to take support on the back board to take some rest.

The coach Swartzentruber responds that Bennett has been progressing very much all these years. She had been gone through many surgeries and always bounced back with hard determination towards the soccer. She got more able and worked hard to improve in the game. The children’s in wheelchair with obstacles with their physical body and mental in soccer jersey felt much happy to be with team. The coach adds that the physical and mental abilities doesn’t make difference in the soccer team as he treats them all as equal. He has no discriminate towards no one there in the program. He wants all the participants to have different perspective towards the soccer and provide something back to him as return. Much of the disabled children were present in this soccer program.
