Finally the year has come to its end. There have been a lot of suspense, drama, irony, magic, adventure, good moments vs. bad moments, all of it in world of sports. From rendezvous grand Prix’s in Monaco to the Royal attendant Wimbledon. From national football leagues to Champions league to the controversial FIFA World Cup, in Brazil. We will put our eyes on all happening of the year 2014, so if anyone was not lucky to witness any of the event .Another chance is being given.
Firstly, talking about FOOTBALL. The season of leagues ended with nerve stopping races of being on the top. La Liga was won by young emerging players team Athletico Madrid. It was a shocking moment for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. It was after a very long break when a third team came as a Spanish League Champions. Questions were arisen on the credibility of Giants. Coming towards Barclays Premier League, it was a tensed race to the title. Liverpool who has long been struggling hard in past five years, from changing and sacking their managers. Finally was seen on the glory road. The famous Cannibal Luis Saurez was assigned from Ajax Amsterdam to east London. Although first as a dream shatterer in last FIFA Cup quarter final, this year he was seen as a nightmare for all 19 clubs players of English league. His famous reality bites on different players made him away from the grounds but his teeth clinch could not be stopped. But at least he rose to fame and prominence and there is no doubt that he deserved to hold English Player of the Year Trophy. A lot of cat mouse chase was experienced in last games, between Man City and Liverpool but latter’s poor performance led the victory to ETIHAD Stadium.
This year’ UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE title went to Real Madrid. They defeated Athletico Mdrid in final. At least here they did not let down their fans and themselves. The French Ligue 1 was won by defending champions Paris-Saint Germain; it was their second straight title. The Serie A was once again won by Juventus and the toll of titles went to 30. Although Antonio Conte one of the legendary player in football, retire from his club position as a manager and was named Italian national team coach. His successor Massimiliano Allegri hardly disappointed any one and led the club with more extraordinary game play. In Germany, Bayern Munich won Bundesliga Title under Pep Guardiola , making toll to 19th club titles.
Now coming towards the showcase event of the year, the most watched event of this Earth if any one out of you knows? Not Grammys, nor Oscars but FIFA WORLD CUP, played after every four years. The long awaited tournament that lasts only for 30 days in total of 1460 days, plus a leap day. I will start off from the most deadliest and worst team , yes guys it was defending and one time world champions SPAIN , last show case event was like being on seventh horizon , top of the world , feeling like being on a ninth cloud for Del Bosque’s team . But 2014 was …… the national team that consist mostly players of Fc Barcelona and Real Madrid went back after the very first stages. Out of three group matches, they won only one. Even it was okay if that wasn’t won. Paths that leads to the flashlights matters only. So that was my favorite team’s story. The emerging teams were of South American side. Netherlands once again become chokers, after a very wonderful penalty shootout win in quarter finals against Cost Rica. Louis Van Gal extra time substitute was a very surprising but it was a worthy one. The other quarter final was played between the hosts, Brazil and Colombia. It was the very match that allowed 17 years old beautiful girl holding pomp pomp and supporting her team Colombia was contacted by a beauty brand but was later kicked out after animal abused picture on her Facebook account. So the game was won Brazil and an emotional end was seen by the whole world. David Luis‘s phrase to Colombian star of the tournament, James Rodriguez by holding him and asking supporters to clap for him was more than a win. In other two quarter finals, Argentina wins over Belgium and Germany over France both by 1-0.
In semifinals Brazil faced a shocking and embarrassing defeat by Germans, who looked like playing for their lives and were firing canons. The worst defeat where the only goal from host side was made by the captain against seven goals from guest team. In second semifinal, Netherland this time couldn’t be saved by their coach magic box tricks ad lost to most favorites side Argentina.
Germany won the FIFA World Cup tis time after repeatedly securing third position by Goetz’s goal in 124 minute. Third position this time went to Netherlands and Brazil couldn’t get the grace. Top scorer was James Rodriguez, Best Player trophy went to Lionel Messi, Best Young player title went to Paul Pogba and Golden Glove went to Manuel Neuer. And yes I forgot to mention the Flying Goal by Van Persie.
