Tattered Shoes Bring Aston Villa to English Premier League

After three years, Aston Villa was finally able to return to the English Premier League again. Who would have thought Jack Grealish’s tattered shoes had become a fortune the team nicknamed The Villans.

Jack Grealish appeared in the Championship playoff finals to fight for tickets to the English Premier League with ‘special’ shoes that looked already ragged.

Grealish appeared at Wembley Stadium on Monday (27/5), when Aston Villa faced Derby County in shoes that looked different. Not because the footwear is the latest output or enhanced with accessories, but has been peeled off on the outside.

The white shoes that Grealish uses on the left foot suddenly invite attention. But it was not without reason the 23-year-old player used shoes that looked unworthy to use.

However, the player who had been rumored to be the target of Manchester United was unmoved, by still playing wearing Hypervenom Phantom IIIs type shoes, for 24 pounds.

“When I returned from injury, this was a new shoe and I managed to score goals and assists with these shoes. I thought this was a lucky shoe and I saved it,” Grealish said when interviewed by Sky Sports as quoted from Dailymail.

Besides seizing attention because of the tattered shoes, the former England Under-21 international attacking midfielder also got the spotlight because he got a torn wound on his left temple when he lifted the trophy.

“I can’t speak, really. I can’t explain the happiness I feel,” said the 23-year-old player.

“I once thought I was going to leave, ten months later I was here now and I brought my childhood club back to the Premier League as captain and scored the Blues [Birmingham City] goal twice, the perfect season,” he continued.

Before delivering to the final and winning against Derby County, Grealish’s shoes managed to score a goal against Derby County in the preliminary round, then continue to face Birmingham City.

Grealish appeared quite impressive in the match between The Villans and The Rams. Failing to score, the player who changed citizenship from Ireland to England helped to win a fruitful Aston Villa ticket to the 2019/2020 English Premier League.

Grealish helped Villa beat Derby with a score of 2-1. Anwar El Ghazi scored Villa’s opening goal in the 44th minute, then John McGinn doubled the London club’s lead in the 59th minute. Martyn Waghorn’s goal for Derby has been unable to halt Aston Villa to the top division in the English football system next season.
