The second major tournament from Dota Pro Circuit namely Chongqing Major has announced the division of the group. A total of 16 teams from all over the world fought back to win a total prize of US $ 1 million and 15,000 DPC points.
The group stage will run from January 19 to 20 which is divided into 4 groups. All matches use the best-of-three system and use the double elimination format.
The top two teams in each group will be placed in the upper bracket. Conversely, the bottom two teams in each group are placed on the lower bracket.
In group A, there are Virtus.pro who are also champions of the Kuala Lumpur Major. In addition there are also TNC Predators who come without the presence of Kuku who is forbidden to compete in this tournament.
Besides Chaos Esports Club, the team that previously joined paiN Gaming and finally there was EHOME who was also Bucharest Minor champion. This group can be said to be the most competitive group compared to the other three groups. Four teams both have great opportunities to qualify for the upper bracket. However, Virtus Pro remains the strongest seed for Dota 2 fans.
In group B there is Team Secret who is also the runner-up of the Kuala Lumpur Major, PSG.LGD, the runner-up of The International 2018, Forward Gaming, the team that contains Resolut1on, former OG player and Thunder Predator who debuted at the main event Dota Pro Circuit.
Group B is also no less presenting exciting competition between existing teams. However, the two teams that were considered the most prominent were Team Secret and PSG. LGD. The two teams have the best DPC points compared to the other two teams.
In group C there is Team Liquid that comes without the presence of its flagship player, Miracle. Vici Gaming, a team from China who plays quite well at the Kuala Lumpur Major.
In addition there was J.Storm who played with Fear, a former EG player who decided to return to competitive Dota, and The Pangolier, a surprise team that successfully defeated Virtus.pro in the CIS qualification.
Liquid can be said to be the only seeded in group C. However, they must adapt quickly because they will not be strengthened by Miracle in the main round. With this, Vici Gaming certainly became a great opportunity to stop Liquid’s might.
Whereas in group D there are Evil Geniuses who won third place in the Kuala Lumpur Major, Fnatic who played dominantly during SEA qualification. There are also Alliance whose performance is on the rise, and Team Aster is trying to get back up after playing poorly at the Kuala Lumpur Major.
The last group is a group that is quite interesting and evenly distributed in terms of strength. The EG team is still superior considering their far better performance than the other three teams. However, the other three teams also had the potential to surprise EG.
The playoffs will be held from January 22-27 2019. Only the last three days will be held live at BLOOMAGE Cultural and Sports Center, Chongqing, China.
