The Title Ronaldo Wants and His Tradition in Super Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo who was bought by Juventus from Real Madrid for more than 100 million euros in the last summer transfer market, said he was happy with the success of winning the title in the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday (1/16/2019).

Moreover, Ronaldo is also single out the final result of  Juventus vs AC Milan match. He did not only win his first trophy for Juventus, but also successfully guarded his tradition related to the competition called the Super Cup.

Throughout his career, Cristiano Ronaldo never failed to present at least one Super Cup trophy to the club he was defending. With the Portuguese League club where he began his career, Sporting, CR7 won the Supertaca trophy Candido de Oliveira, known as, the Portuguese Super Cup in 2002. For Manchester United, Ronaldo won the Community Shield trophy in 2007. In English football, the Community Shield can be considered an English Super Cup because it brings together champions and FA Cup champions.

Juventus barely won 1-0 over AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup match at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

The single goal of the Juventus victory was scored by Cristiano Ronaldo in the 61st  minute. Based on Whoscored’s record, Juventus led the ball to 61.7 percent. In terms of opportunities, Juventus has 18 of which 3 are on target. Milan has 10, where 1 goes to goal.

“We won the first title with Juventus this season. I am very happy, this is the title I want,” Cristiano Ronaldo was quoted from the Tuttomercato website. “We want the best start in 2019. Now, we have to work calmly to pursue other titles,” Ronaldo added.

In the match, Juventus actually had a great opportunity to add a goal. First, when Blaise Matuidi’s goal was disallowed, then when AC Milan played with 10 players from the 75th minute. Franck Kessie was given a red card. Kessie was sent off by referee Luca Banti for stepping on the right foot of the Juventus midfielder, Emre Can.

However, no additional goals were created. Score 1-0 for Juventus did not change until the long whistle sounded.

“It’s a difficult match, especially because our goal was disallowed. However, we still look good,” said Ronaldo.

“I am very happy to be able to score,” said the Portugal national team captain.

The success of beating AC Milan made Juventus listed as the team with the most Italian Super Cup titles, 8 times. They won one title over the team they defeated.
