The story of Matheus Nunes, who woke up selling bread and is now an important player for Manchester City

The story of Matheus Nunes is an inspiration for football fans. He is so captivating with an extraordinary career journey, from starting simply to becoming a star in the world of sports.

Before becoming the star he is now, Matheus Nunes worked in a bakery to make ends meet. Understandably, he was born and raised in a simple environment in the Favela Campo Grande, Brazil.

He was raised by a mother named Catia with all existing limitations. As time went on, her mother took her to move to Portugal and start a new life when Nunes was 13 years old.

There the Nunes family opened a bakery on the waterfront in Ericeira, Portugal under the name Pao da Vila. Nunes helped out at the shop at the same time as he was starting his football career.

He is known to work around six hours, starting in the morning and after that he continues to practise football. It’s not an easy thing to go through, but Nunes did it all well.

The results of his hard work actually paid off. When he was 14-15 years old, he succeeded in joining a local club, Ericeirense, in 2015, which at that time competed in Portugal’s lower league.

His outstanding talent led scouts to bring him up to the top of the Portuguese League, Estoril, recruiting him to play in the U-23 team in 2018.

Since then, Matheus Nunes’ life and of course his football career have changed a lot. He successfully presented 1 Portuguese League title, 2 Taca da Liga trophies, and one Supertaca candido de Oliveira title.

Now, the man who was born in Rio de Janeiro is officially associated with Manchester City. The Brazilian player is contracted for five years.

Nunes has reasons why he accepted Man City’s proposal. Apart from wanting to appear in the Champions League, Nunes wants to feel the magical touch of last season’s treble winning coach, Pep Guardiola.

“The opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest coaches ever, and alongside some of the best players in the world was something I couldn’t turn down,” Nunes said as quoted by the club’s official website, Saturday (2/9/2023).

“I’ve learned a lot during my season at Wolves and I’m excited to continue growing in the Premier League, a division that brings out the best in me,” he added. Nunes can’t wait to make his first debut with The Citizens. The closest, Man City will host Fulham at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester on Saturday (2/9/2023).
