Tokyo 2020 Olympic Medal Winners Fight in New York City Marathon

The bronze medalist of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will compete in the New York City Marathon on November 7, 2021. It is the US female runner Molly Seidel who will show her skills after taking third place in Tokyo Olympics. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics Marathon was held in Sapporo, Hokkaido Island, northern Japan.

Molly who covered a time of 2 hours 27 minutes 46 seconds lost to the gold medalist, Kenyan runner Peres Jepchirchir. The silver medal in that event went to Kenyan female athlete, Brigid Kosgei.

When Molly Seidel won bronze, it turned out that she had only participated in three marathons in her career. It is reviled that Seidel trained in Arizona to try to prepare for the Olympics. “It still was incredibly difficult but this is what we train for,” she added.

Meanwhile, the New York City Marathon this time is the event for the 50th time. “I hope this will be a good year for my participation in the 50th New York City Marathon,” said Molly Seidel.

Apart from Molly Seidel, female athlete Aliphine Tuliamuk, former New York City Marathon 2020 runner-up Sally Kipyego, and two-time Des Linden Olympic marathon participant will compete.

Des Linden was the highlight of the last Boston Marathon. Meanwhile, Aliphine Tuliamuk, who just got US citizenship, had time to take part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics marathon. However, she was stopped from the match when she had only reached 20 kilometers of running.

In January 2021, Tuliamuk had just given birth. Sally Kipyego, meanwhile, was the women’s 10,000 meters silver medalist at the 2012 London Olympics. Like Aliphine Tuliamuk, Kipyego is a Kenyan citizen who acquired US citizenship.

Kipyego won 17th place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics marathon. Since holding second place in New York City 2020, Sally Kipyego has never participated in the New York City Marathon. “I never changed my dream to be the top of the New York City Marathon,” said Sally Kipyoge.

Meanwhile, Des Linden became the occupant of the top position at the 2018 Boston Marathon. “I am the first 33-year-old American woman to win this prestigious race,” Des Linden said. In the US Trial Run for the 2020 Olympics he finished fourth.
