The 2022 US Open will be the 142nd edition of tennis’ US Open and the fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year.
We can see who is the favourite to win this tournament until the final stage:
Daniil Medvedev
Medvedev takes part the tournament as the defending champion and world number one, but the odds are likely against him retaining either of those titles.
Since his painful defeat to Nadal in the Australian Open final, the 26-year-old has won only one minor title and suffered some surprising defeats, while his status has made him a lightning rod for the furor surrounding Russian player participation.
Rafael Nadal
An untimely abdominal injury ended Nadal’s hopes of winning the Grand Slam on the calendar when he was forced to withdraw before the Wimbledon semi-finals, but he has yet to lose a five-set match all season.
Time is not on his side, but the Spaniard has an excellent record in New York and won a fourth title in his last Flushing Meadows appearance in 2019.
Nick Kyrgios
The fact that the Australian is back in the top 30 despite his run to the Wimbledon final without points shows what a consistently strong season he has had.
Kyrgios finally appears dedicated to tennis – in his terms – and has built his success on grass with more impressive results on American hard courts. With his parents sick in Australia, though, Kyrgios may find it difficult to keep his mind off the house.
Jack Draper
Great Britain has three fit men in the Wimbledon semi-finalists, Cameron Norrie, Dan Evans and 20-year-old Draper.
The young Londoner is attracting attention far beyond those borders and reached another milestone earlier this month, earning his first top 10 win over Stefanos Tsitsipas. Draper, who is on the cusp of becoming a top 50 player, will be a name the top stars are trying to avoid.
