Toto Wolff glorifies Lewis Hamilton as he closes in on Fifth F1 World Title

Toto Wolff, Executive Director of Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team, glorified Lewis Hamilton who is closing in on the fifth Formula 1 world title.

Wolff said, “Hamilton is a class act and he is more complete than ever before”.

“[He is] showing commanding performance in the car and challenging the entire team to perform to higher levels at the same time,” Wolff added.

Hamilton, if manages to win at Austin, Texas, USA with Sebastian Vettel finishing third or lower, will name this year championship to himself.

Even if the Briton doesn’t win at US Grand Prix, but manages to increase his by additional eight points over Vettel, Mercedes will take the title again this year.

Hamilton has been consistent this season with acing six victories in the last seven races. He will be heading to one of the suitable F1 tracks for Mercedes with maximum 100 points available to add.

Austin has remained blissful for the 33-year-old British driver, where he won five of the six races since its addition to F1 in 2012. He won one race for McLaren and the rest in a row for Mercedes.

However, with all the conditions in Mercedes favor Wolff refused to admit and said the title battle was “far from over”.

Wolff said, “The Circuit of the Americas has been a good track for us ever since it was introduced in the F1 calendar. But past results have no impact on the current championship.

“Everyone in the team knows that we cannot take anything for granted, so we will be as diligent as ever, keep our heads down and work hard to get a good result in Texas.

“This championship fight has been exhilarating and we can’t wait for the next chapter in the epic battle of silver and red.”

Wolff added: “While we didn’t have the fastest car in the summer, we’ve seen the performance swing in our favour recently.

“However, it is closer than it looked in recent races. Ferrari have a strong car and they will keep on pushing until the very last corner in Abu Dhabi.

“They have been worthy opponents in the past 17 races and we have no reason to believe that this will change in the next four; just like us, they will fight fiercely for every point and position.”
