Chelsea made sure to qualify for the 2020-2021 FA Cup quarter-finals after defeating Barnsley 1-0 in the fifth round match on Friday (12/2/2021) early morning WIB. Despite winning, Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel was not satisfied with his team’s play.
Because even though he won, Tuchel admitted that Chelsea had to work hard to beat Barnsley, which is a team from the Championship League or second caste competition in England. Of course for Tuchel that fact was quite embarrassing.
Especially considering that Tuchel fielded several of his main players in that match. Even though they have played their flagship players, they actually did not get good results in one hour of the match.
Tammy Abraham was lucky to score a goal in the 64th minute. The only goal in the match saved Tuchel’s face from a defeat against a second caste team in English football.
Tuchel himself actually felt annoyed with Chelsea’s game in the match against Barnsley. Because he believes N’golo Kante and his friends can play much better and win with a better number of goals.
However, Tuchel saw his team struggling to put out their best game because of the tremendous pressure from Barnsley. Because it is difficult to escape from the pressure that Chelsea cannot play well and can only score one goal.
“Honestly, I feel that (Tuchel replied when asked if he felt relieved when Chelsea confirmed qualification),” said Tuchel, as reported by Sportsmole, Friday (12/2/2021).
“Of course we can stop all analysis (regarding the Barnsley vs Chelsea match), but what has happened is over. The point is Chelsea qualified for the quarterfinals, “added Tuchel.
“We obviously could have played better. It’s not our best performance. To overcome today’s difficulties, we are very difficult to overcome the pressure from them (Barnsley), “he continued.
Now, Tuchel doesn’t want to think about the result of the match. He wants Chelsea to focus on the next 2020-2021 FA Cup match, where they will face Sheffield United in the quarter-finals on March 20, 2021.
