Turkey vs Georgia Euro 2024 Results: Score 3-1

The Turkish national team defeated the Georgian national team on matchday 1 of Group F Euro 2024 at Signal Iduna Park, Tuesday (18/06/2024).

The 2024 European Cup match is running excitingly. Because both teams attacked each other and created a number of opportunities.

Turkey’s goals were scored by Mert Muldur, Arda Guler and Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu. Meanwhile Georgia’s goal was scored by Georges Mikautadze.

With this result, Turkey is at the top of Group F. Meanwhile, Georgia is at the bottom of the group.

At the start of the first half, both teams immediately attacked each other. However, after a few minutes, Turkey was able to put a little pressure on Georgia’s defense.

Turkey created the first opportunity via Ayhan’s hard low shot from outside the penalty box. However, the ball only hit the right goal post.

Turkey then continued to press. Their efforts paid off in the 25th minute. Initially they broke into the penalty box from the left halfspace. Kadioglu’s pass was blocked by Georgia’s defense. However, the ball was immediately struck by Muldur’s right-footed volley. 1-0!

Two minutes later Turkey scored again through Yildiz, after attacking from the right side via Arda Guler. But then the referee annulled the goal because a VAR check showed Yildiz’s thumb was caught offside.

After that the momentum of the match changed. Georgia can make good use of this to score a goal back.

In the 32nd minute, they attacked from the right halfspace through Kochorashvili. He gave a pass to the near post and the ball was met by Georges Mikautadze’s right foot shot. 1-1!

This score then lasted until halftime. Turkey 1-1 Georgia.

At the start of the second half, Turkey played aggressively again. They immediately put pressure on Georgia’s defense.

But Georgia also doesn’t want to lose. They tried to push back led by Kvaratskhelia.

In the 56th minute Turkey threatened from Hakan Calhanoglu’s free kick. From a distance of around 24 meters, he fired a powerful shot that the Georgia posse could not stop. However, the ball was deftly blocked by Giorgi Mamardashvili.

However, Turkey was able to score first. In the 65th minute, Arda Guler cut into the middle from the right flank. He then fired a left footed shot into the top right corner of Georgia’s goal. Boom! Goal! 2-1!

Georgia then tried to change its tactics to equalize the score. Turkey then did the same thing. However, the match was still going on tough.

In the 86th minute, Turkey got a golden opportunity. Yazici headed the ball from Akturkoglu’s pass. However, this opportunity was still brilliantly thwarted by Mamardashvili.

Georgia continued to pressure Turkey’s defense in the remaining time. Unfortunately, they conceded a counterattack in the 90+7 minute via Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu’s goal after their attempt from a corner failed.

At that time Mamardashvili stepped forward with his goal abandoned. Turkey finally won 3-1 over Georgia.
