Tyson Fury and his promoter confirm will return to the ring in June

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is scheduled to play his first fight back from suspension for doping on June 9 in Manchester, against an opponent yet to be announced.

According to Fury’s new promoter Frank Warren, his client is cleared to fight and they will announce opponent and the broadcaster in due course.

“I’m the first fittest I’ve ever been. Timing, reflexes, everything is better than it’s ever been. I kid you not, Furry told media during his press conference on Thursday.

“Everything is still there. I’m 29 years old, coming into the prime of my life, I’m stronger and faster, holding more muscle mass than ever. I’m more confident looking at the competition.” Fury added.

The 29-year-old pugilist, who has not fought since his surprise victory over Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015 to become undisputed world heavyweight champion, was rehabilitated by the British anti-doping agency (UKAD) in December after a suspension of two years.

The Manchester giant and his cousin Hughie Fury, another heavyweight, had been tested positive for steroids in February 2015 but sanctioned only in June 2016, after the victory over Klitschko.

A rematch with the Klitschko cadet was scheduled for July 2016 but Fury had postponed the fight for a sprained ankle on the day of the announcement of his suspension.

Fury had previously pitched a challenge denied to American Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs), who unified WBO, IBF and WBA titles by defeating New Zealand’s Joseph Parker last month in Cardiff.

The Manchester giant is confident that he can punch and beat Joshua in some day if a deal happened between both sides.

“I’d outbox and knock him out. He’s not the hardest man to land a punch on and I don’t believe he holds a good shot either.” Fury told.

“This isn’t just a normal fight, this is a fight for depression and mental health. It’s been publicised that I’ve been as low as any man can go, so to come back from the brink of no return to the top of the world is a statement for mental health.” the Gypsy King added.

Fury, undefeated in 25 fights including 18 concluded before the limit, will have to wait his turn since Joshua is looking for a lucrative fight against the American Deontay Wilder, holder of the WBC belt.
