William has revealed why he returned to English Premier League in the 2022 summer transfer market for Fullham FC.
Fulham signed forward Willian on a one-year deal, as the Brazilian returns to the Premier League on a free transfer following the departure from Brazil Serie A side Corinthians.
Speaking at his interview with “Athletic”, William admitted that the game situation very difficult in Brazil.
“The situation in Brazil got difficult when we lost some games. In one game, I didn’t have the best performance and people started going to social media and attacked my family. From there, I started thinking about leaving Corinthians and going back to England.” William said.
“I have friends here, players I played with, and they told me to come back. And I also knew that the Premier League is the best league in the world.” William added.
William also explained the differences in attitude of the fans in dealing with defeats in Brazil and England.
“In the last year in Brazil, I thought a lot: ‘Do I want to live here or in England?’. I have no doubts about that now, I want to live in London. My family loves it, I love it.” William said.
“I have friends here and London is my home. the place where I love to be. I have everything here. As a family, we feel that we can enjoy life here.
“If you have a bad result, it will not have a bad impact on your personal life. In Brazil, if you lose a game, you cannot leave the house, or go to a restaurant. This is the difference.” he added.
The 34-year-old midfielder first moved to the Premier League in 2013, joining Chelsea from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala. In August 2020 he signed for Arsenal before moving back to Brazil.
In the same interview, the 34-year-old Fulham midfielder expressed a desire to become a football manager when he leaves the pitch.
