Winning 2-0 Over Southampton, Liverpool Opened Hopes For The Top 4

Liverpool successfully defeated Southampton in the 2020-2021 Premier League match. Playing at Anfield on Sunday (9/5/2021) early morning WIB, Liverpool won over Southampton with a score of 2-0.

The victory brought Liverpool up one position to sixth with a collection of 57 points. Now, they are getting closer to the top four, who are six points away from Leicester City in fourth.

First round

The match started, Liverpool immediately took the initiative to attack. However, Southampton also did not remain silent by several times threatening the Liverpool defense.

Even so, until the first 10 minutes, Liverpool still controlled the game. Various opportunities were obtained by Liverpool which almost tore the Southampton net.

However, only in the 31st minute, Liverpool’s patience to score a Southampton goal paid off. Sadio Mane succeeded in breaking into Southampton’s goal, which was actually difficult to penetrate from the start of the match.

In the 80th minute, Liverpool managed to break through the Southampton goal for the second time. The ball was again scored by Mane. However, the goal was declared invalid because Mane was in an offside position.

However, in the 90th minute, Liverpool’s hopes of doubling their lead became real. Liverpool managed to score the second goal after Thiago Alcantara fired a shot that Froster could not stop. Liverpool winning 2-0.

Until the match ended, Liverpool’s superiority did not change. Jurgen Klopp’s squad secured a 2-0 victory over Southampton.
