England managed to beat the host Andorra with a score of 5-0 in the 2022 World Cup Qualification match at the Andorra National Stadium, Sunday (10/10).
England’s first goal was produced by Ben Chilwell in the 17th minute. This goal came from Phil Foden’s bait into the penalty box which was well received by Jadon Sancho.
Receiving the ball with his back to goal, Sancho saw Ben Chilwell had a better chance to shoot. Sancho then handed the ball to Ben Chilwell who did not waste the opportunity.
Five minutes before the end of the first half, Bukayo Saka increased England’s lead to 2-0. Foden again showed his ability to read the gaps in the opponent’s defense.
Foden sent a pass into the penalty box which was well received by Saka. Even though he was in a tight corner, Saka managed to vibrate the goal with a shot towards the near post.
The goal also made England end the first half with a two-goal advantage.
After taking a two-goal lead in the first half, England continued to increase their pressure. In the 59th minute, Tammy Abraham managed to record his name on the scoreboard.
Jadon Sancho is again a contributor to assists in England’s third goal. The cross that was released by Sancho was successfully touched into the goal by Abraham.
England then increased the advantage to 4-0 through James Ward-Prowse in the 79th minute. Ward-Prowse is believed to be the executor of the penalty on that occasion. After his shot had missed, Ward-Prowse slotted a wild ball into the net.
Jack Grealish, who had just entered in the 73rd minute, also registered his name on the scoreboard. Grealish scored England’s fifth goal in the 86th minute.
Grealish’s goal came from a Sam Johnstone throw that saw the ball reach Grealish who ran into the Andorra defence. Grealish then rounded two defenders who blocked before firing low.
The match ended with the score 5-0 for England.
From statistics England is really superior to Andorra. Control of the ball in this match was very poor, England 86 percent, while Andorra only 14 percent.
England had a total of 17 shots on goal, of which eight were on target. While Andorra could only release one shot throughout the match.
With this result, England temporarily leads the standings in Group I with 19 points. Below them are Albania with 15 points, and Poland in third place with 14 points.
While Andorra is in fifth place with three points, one level below San Marino with 0 points.
