Dana White wants St-Pierre respect his contract

Dana White reveals he does not want to see new middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre change his plans after beating Michael Bisping.

The UF president White hopes St-Pierre to defend his gainst then-interim champion from New Zealand Robert Whittaker at his next bout.

“That’s not what I want to hear. I want him to defend his 185-pound title. This is the agreement we signed before.” White said.

“I thought I would be super pissed, but I’m not. I expected it. Listen, I had him sign a contract that said he would defend against Whitaker for a reason, because I knew he wouldn’t.

“I’m going to be very angry if he gives up his belt. I don’t know what will happen next. If you go to 170-pound, there is [Tyron Woodley, [Yoel] Romero and [Luke] Rockhold.

“They are all monsters. There is no good option. You cannot do that in this sport, try to choose your opponents. They are all intimidating. You are a fighter. You wanted to come back, so welcome.

“At the end of the day, there’s a reason I put that stuff in the contract for him to sign. There’s a reason. And am I shocked? I don’t think anybody is shocked. He came out, he hand-picked Bisping and then went away again. So, whatever, it is what it is.” White added.

GSP, after four years retired, makes a fascinating comeback, a weight decision above where he campaigned so wonderfully. The Canadian fighter won his middleweight title over Michael Bisping at UFC 217 on November 5.

The 36-year-old fighter admitted his contract with UFC stipulated that he had to face Robert Whittaker in middleweight if he wanted to defend his title, but hi did not exclude the possibility that he returns to a lower weight category.

“At 185-pound, it’s not my natural weight. I fought Bisping at 191-pound, but I’m very, very small for that category. If have to do it, because it’s written in the contract. I’ll see what happnes.” St-Pierre said.

“I know that the middleweight title belonged to someone for a long time. But I don’t plan to keep the belt and not defend it. I know guys are waiting for their chances, like Luke Rockhold and Whittaker.” St-Pierre added.

GSP is undefeated over his past 13 fights, a streak that dates back to 2007. He is also one of only four fighters to capture titles in two different UFC weight divisions.
