Breaking into the Top 100, Lorenzo Musetti’s Dream Come True

Lorenzo Musetti

Lorenzo Musetti has had a bright career at the junior level, including winning the Australian Open in the 2019 junior category and being ranked No.1 in the world at that level.

The Italian national made her ATP tournament debut by playing the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Since then, the 19 year old tennis player has started to increase in terms of ranking. Last season, he defeated world famous tennis players, Stan Wawrnka and Kei Nishikori in the Masters 1000 tournament, Italian Open, Rome. This is an indication of the bright prospects of the 19-year-old tennis player.

Recently, the Italian national achieved another milestone by breaking into the top 100 for the first time.

“It’s a dream come true. Since I was a kid, I hoped and dreamed that one day I would be in the top 100 and have an ATP tournament. Finally, I made it happen. This is extraordinary, “exclaimed Musetti.

Last week, the player who is now ranked 94 in the world strolled into the semifinals of the Mexican Open in Acapulco. In the tournament, he bagged an impressive victory by picking up victories over world number 9, Diego Schwartzman, Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov.

Currently, there are two young men who are in the top 100 in addition to world number 94, compatriot Jannik Sinner.

“Lorenzo is a talented player. He can do anything with the ball, so he’s already strong physically. I think he’s a great player, “said Sinner of his compatriot.

It seems that the world of Italian tennis is in good hands. Apart from the two young tennis players, there are a number of other tennis stars from the country. Matteo Berrettini is another talented Italian national and he was part of last season’s ATP Finals tournament.

The world number 94 is next scheduled to appear at the Miami Open for the 2021 season. When so many world-renowned players confirm that they will not be participating in the Miami Open, it could be a tremendous opportunity for young players to shine in the Masters 1000 tournament.

There are still a lot of tournaments this season and Musetti’s form will again attract attention as one of the most talented young players.
