Manchester City bomber Sergio Aguero is one of the best strikers to have played at the Etihad Stadium.
Aguero came to Man City from Atletico Madrid in 2011. The Argentine attacker managed to become a goal machine with a total of 257 goals in 384 matches with Man City.
Of the hundreds of goals he has scored at The Citizens, nine of them have come against the Red Devils. Aguero only lost two goals from Wayne Rooney, who is the player who has scored the most goals in the Manchester derby with a collection of 11 goals.
Aguero himself officially left Man City at the end of this season because he did not reach an agreement regarding a new contract extension. Man City’s representative, Khaldoon Al Mubarak has also confirmed the end of his side’s togetherness with Aguero.
Aguero will leave at the end of this season with a status as a legendary player. The label refers to the 32-year-old’s role and contribution during his decade at Man City.
Here are five of Aguero’s key moments at Man City:
1. Like to score goals at Old Trafford
Aguero experienced one of the best moments when helping Man City win 6-1 over Man Utd at Old Trafford in 2011. In that match, Aguero also contributed one goal against his city rivals.
In addition, Aguero was also the winner when Man City won again at Old Trafford. Aguero scored the winner which saw Man City win 2-1 at the Theater of Dreams.
However, the victory did not mean much for Man City. The Citizens could not compete with Man Utd who came out as champions at the end of the season.
2. Quintrick against Newcastle
Aguero put his name in the history books when Man City beat Newcastle 6-1 in the 2015/2016 Premier League. Aguero went berserk by buying up five goals for Man City.
Man City actually trailed 0-1 ahead of Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium. However, Man City responded thanks to Aguero’s quintrick.
Aguero scored five goals against Newcastle in just 20 minutes with a Kevin De Bruyne goal. That cut saw Aguero beat Jermaine Defoe’s record of five in 36 minutes when Tottenham Hotspur beat Wigan Athletic 9-1 in 2009.
3. Hattrick specialist
Aguero is included in the ranks of the best attacking elite in the Premier League. This is evidenced by Aguero’s hat trick collection in Man City uniform.
Aguero is the player who has collected the most hat-tricks in the Premier League. He did it 12 times with Man City.
That record saw Aguero surpass the record set by Newcastle and Blackburn Rovers icon Alan Shearer, who made 11 hat-tricks in his career. Seven of Aguero’s 12 hat-tricks occurred during the Pep Guardiola era.
4. Most of Man City’s goalscorers
In the last decade, Aguero has scored 257 goals. The number of goals that much makes Aguero stick out as the player with the most goals scored at Man City.
Aguero is far alone on Man City’s all-time top scorer list. He far surpassed Eric Brook, who scored 177 goals.
Previously, Aguero surpassed Brook’s goal record in November 2017. The historic record he made when breaking into Napoli’s goal in the Champions League.
5. Man City Title Decisive Goals
The best moment for Aguero at Man City occurred on May 13, 2012. The Argentine striker secured the title for The Citizens thanks to a goal in the second half of injury time.
Aguero found the QPR goal right in the final minutes of the match. The match score changed to 3-2 for Man City’s victory.
The dramatic victory gave Man City the same points as Man Utd. However, Manchester Blue has the right to come out as champions because of superior goal difference.
