Premier League Results: Arsenal Draw Against Crystal Palace

Arsenal drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace in the Premier League match. Arsenal hosted Crystal Palace in the Premier League match which was held at the Emirates Stadium, Monday (18/10).

In this match, Arsenal drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace. Arsenal were able to take the lead in the eighth minute through Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s flick.

The Gunners opened their scoring when the game was not even eight minutes taking advantage of a corner kick situation that led to Aubameyang’s goal.

Nicolas Pepe attempted a curling shot which went into the top left corner of the Palace goal and was parried by goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, but the ball fell in front of Aubameyang who swooped in to give Arsenal the lead.

Arsenal should have doubled their lead in the 22nd minute, had Emile Smith-Rowe not chosen to fire a shot which Guaita could have saved while Pepe was standing in an unmarked position on the left.

Instead, Palace threatened six minutes later with Benteke’s strike which was unfortunately too close to goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale’s reach and Arsenal’s 1-0 scoreline lasted until halftime although they were under more pressure in the first half.

Arsenal’s lead was lost in the 50th minute as Benteke beat Ramsdale one-on-one after controlling Jordan Ayew’s through ball to make it 1-1.

The goal boosted the confidence of the Palace players who came close to turning things around in the 57th minute, unfortunately Ayew’s shot from the edge of the box was saved by Ramsdale over the bar.

Instead, Arsenal threatened again with Aubameyang’s flick which was almost perfectly completed by Lacazette in the 72nd minute, but Guaita managed to clear the ball into the side of the net.

A minute later, Crystal Palace actually managed to take the lead when their counter-attack was ended by Michael Olise’s cross which was struck by Edouard’s hard shot and the ball hit the bar before crossing the home goal line.

Three minutes into normal time, Arsenal came close again but Kieran Tierney’s powerful shot was denied by the crossbar.

Arsenal did not give up and in injury time got a corner kick. The Palace defense failed to fully anticipate Ben White’s shot and the ball fell in front of Lacazette who only had to slot it into the net to force the game to a 2-2 draw.

These results maintain a positive trend for Arsenal, who have not lost five games in the last five games.

Arsenal will host Aston Villa in their next Premier League match on Friday, while Palace a day later also play at home to newly-rich Newcastle United at Selhurst Park.
