Iga Swiatek, the Polish tennis player, is making his dream come true this season, which includes an 11-game winning streak.

In the process, the 20-year-old won two consecutive titles at the Qatar Open, Doha and the BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells.

The 2020 French Open champion knocked out Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari in straight sets to claim the BNP Paribas Open title for the first time in her career. Furthermore, the title win helped him to occupy the 2nd world ranking.

Throughout the final match of the BNP Paribas Open, he appeared dominant. He appeared mercilessly to win his second title of the season. After the match, he reflected on his win over Sakkari. In addition, he also opened up about the influence of the Spanish tennis player, Rafael Nadal on his career.

The two players of quite different ages greeted each other as the Poles left the court after the final, while former world number 1 Nadal entered the court for the final against the host, Taylor Fritz.

Talking about the friendship with the 2022 Australian Open champion Nadal that has been forged in recent seasons, Iga Swiatek said, “I don’t know if it’s friendship, to be honest, being able to talk to him is still an amazing experience for me. It was a dream come true, for sure. He’s been an amazing inspiration, especially this season’s Australian Open final which I watched from the stands, he was just incredible.”

“He’s a player who never gives up. I want to get the same amount of confidence in myself and really push myself no matter what. So, I think he’s a role model for a lot of people. But for me, I’m just a huge fan.”

While the Pole took home the BNP Paribas Open title, Nadal failed to overcome Fritz’s challenge and lost in straight sets. The home tennis player was brilliant from start to finish to win the biggest title of his career to date.

Meanwhile, Swiatek’s celebration of victory will not last long after he must immediately prepare to participate in the Miami Open which will start this week. On the other hand, Nadal has decided not to compete in Miami to rest and build strength ahead of the European clay-court season.
