Former Real Madrid player Freddy Rincon dies after horrific car accident

Former Real Madrid player, Freddy Rincon, died today, Thursday (14/4/2022), after previously being involved in a terrible car accident on Monday, April 11, 2022 morning Colombian time.

This 55-year-old man drove his own car on Monday. Unfortunately, the car he was carrying collided with a bus in the city of Cali, Colombia.

As a result, Freddy Rincon suffered severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital. At the hospital, Freddy Rincon underwent an approximately three-hour surgery schedule.

After surgery, Freddy Rincon went through a critical period in his life. After about two days in the hospital, the former Colombian national team midfielder breathed his last on Thursday (14/4/2022).

“After our medical team fought hard, the patient on behalf of Freddy Eusebio Rincon passed away today, April 13 (Colombia time),” said a spokesman for the hospital treating Freddy Rincon, quoting The Sun.

“We deeply regret this. However, we extend our most sincere condolences to relatives, friends, acquaintances and fans.”

Freddy Rincon is arguably one of the footballers that Colombia has ever had. He was once part of the Spanish giant, Real Madrid, in the 1995-1996 season.

Previously in 1994-1995, Freddy Rincon defended Napoli. From 38 games in all competitions, the central midfielder has scored seven goals. That slick gait with Napoli is what made Freddy Rincon brought to Real Madrid.

In addition, he also won the 2000 Club World Cup trophy with Corinthians. Meanwhile, with the Colombian national team, he recorded 17 goals in 85 matches. Of those 85 matches, 10 of them were in the World Cup (1990, 1994 and 1998).
