UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping sent a clear message to Georges St-Pierre. He has the biggest stick and doesn’t want to wait long for their fight.
Bisping is mad since no date has yet been decided for his fight against Georges St-Pierre. In an interview with local media, Georges St-Pierre said he would like the fight to take place in the fall. But Bisping was categorical at the most recent episode of his podcast “Believe You Me”. He is not prepared to wait so long for the former welterweight monarch.
“On July 8, in Las Vegas, during International Combat Week, that was the target date. But UFC president Dana White did not want to confirm it at the press conference. I saw Dana a few weeks ago and he said he still hoped it was July 8,” Bisping said media.
“To make a short story, GSP would try to put the fight back at a later date. I heard he wanted it to be September or October and that’s what the UFC told me. I throw it like that, but if he wants to wait until then, he can look for another opponent. I make the decisions. It’s my belt. I’m the champion and I do not want to wait until then,” he added.
Bisping added that he could be slightly flexible on the date, but that he was in the best moments of his career and that he would not wait that long. “Stop doing gymnastics and “back flip” and just sign the contract. You want this fight. You sat at the press conference. You talked and you seemed confident. So, let’s settle the paperwork, it’s as simple as that,” Bisping said.
If ever Georges St-Pierre does not want to fight in July, Bisping will offer the championship fight to Yoel Romero, the one he was supposed to face at the start. Bisping asserted that he had accepted the duel against Georges St-Pierre solely for money motives and that he was not afraid of the Cuban.

“If he is not ready then I guess Yoel Romero gets his title shot. Listen, I’m not afraid of Yoel Romero. If GSP wants to duel, of course, there is a great story there. But I’m not willing to sit around and he doesn’t get to call the shots.” Bisping said.
