Aftermath of Liverpool’s Against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Liverpool managed to continue their positive form until week 6 by beating Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Liverpool scored twice in the first half as the results of a Trent Alexander-Arnold free kick and a header from Roberto Firmino. Chelsea’s goal was scored by N ‘Golo Kante in the second half. The results of the match also made Liverpool extended their winning streak to 15 Premier League matches. Jurgen Klopp’s troops still lead the standing tall with 18 points, 5 points ahead of Manchester City in the second place. This advantage is of course a great relief to Jurgen Klopp who always hopes to maintain their distance with a tough competitor from Pep Guardiola’s City.

In that match, Chelsea were actually superior to Liverpool in ball possession of 54 percent. Chelsea are also ahead of 13 shots on target compared to Liverpool who only have 6 shots. But the Reds’ strategy is much more effective. Liverpool have won 1-0 after 14 minutes of the game running. Starting with a clever free-kick, Mohamed Salah directed the ball to Alexander-Arnold who fired into the top corner of the Chelsea goal that was escorted by Kepa Arrizabalaga. Roberto Firmino managed to increase the advantage to 2-0 with a header from a distance very close to the upper right corner. This goal is an assist from Andrew Robertson with a cross through a set piece situation. Liverpool’s superiority lasted until halftime.

In the second half to be exact the 71st minute, Chelsea managed to score a goal to change the position to 1-2 after N ‘Golo Kante worked hard and found the top corner with a shot from outside the penalty area. Despite continuing to try to equalize, Chelsea did not succeed in preventing Liverpool from winning this fight until the final whistle sounded referee Michael Oliver. There was a moment when Chelsea thought they had equalized through Cesar Azpilicueta, but the goal was canceled by VAR after Mason Mount was decided to be offside earlier in his move.

How did manager Jurgen Klopp’s reaction to this sixth consecutive win. Let’s look at Klopp’s comments: “Very good with this result. I don’t think I need to be surprised anymore about the character of my team, to be honest. Chelsea have their moments, of course, because they are a good team. Two beautiful goals from Arnold and Firmino from many brilliant pressing situations in where we won the ball in the perfect room. ” Thus Klopp assesses his team as reported by the club’s official website above.

Klopp gave high appreciation to his squad. Even in this fight they have many other opportunities. For example, after a pause there are at least two opportunities, it could even be three and four. But unfortunately Liverpool did not succeed in making these opportunities a goal. The second half of the match was more open and finally when Kante scored a beautiful goal, then Chelsea were only able to minimize their lag but failed to equalize. Achievement of Jurgen Klopp’s troops until the 6th week perfectly won 6 consecutive wins, is a remarkable achievement. Congratulations to the Reds.
