The 26-year-old rider has admitted it’s not really easy to win the race after difficult start to his MotoGP 2020 debut, but nees to accept the Covid-19 situation.
“The first year is always the most difficult. Then there was the whole Covid-19 situation and the confinement, we didn’t touch the bikes for months and I am a rider who has a hard time starting.” Alex said.
“This year it was much less difficult for me. I saw from the beginning that the level was much higher. I had to go though a year in which Honda struggled and in which we all suffered.” Alex added.
Alex is the only Moto3 and Moto2 world champions rider, having risen to MotoGP as a champion in the intermediate category.
So far through four races of 2021, Alex has not yet stood of the podium with a best of 10th in Italy. However, he admitted to the pressthat tis is the thoughest season he has ever faced.
“I think in that sense I took a step forward, even though this year we wanted to go the right and things have gone to the left, and the other way round.” Alex said.
“Sometimes you have seasons like this, where everything goes the other way around. It’s complicated, but these are things that can happen, they are also years in which you learn a lot more and this also makes you appreciate the good results even more.” Alex added.
Alex scored points in every race he finished in this season. It’s something that he hasn’t always done in the past.
“I like the pressure and it is true that in a factory team it is greater, but for me the situation has changed little.” Alex said.
“I am still an HRC rider. When you are with a team for a year you build strong relationhips. Then you change and you start from scracth and maybe that’s what cost me the most.” he added.
