Kerber, who lost to Davis in three sets in the second round of Wimbledon in the 2019 season, faced no problems against the American player in this meeting. He never let anything go wrong at the Grand Stand Arena, Rome and converted the second match point opportunity after just over an hour.
Throughout the match, the 36-year-old consistently put pressure on the 30-year-old Davis as he converted five of the nine break point opportunities he created and saved the only break point chance he faced.
The German tennis player also won 77 percent of points from his first serve and 56 percent of points from his second serve, while Davis could only win 39 percent of points from his first serve and 64 percent of points from his second serve.
