Antoine Griezmann has heaped praise on Lionel Messi by claiming his new team-mate is the best at Barcelona. The France forward, who has signed new deal at Barca from Atletico Madrid, will be a key player under head coach Ernesto Valverde.
Playing alongside Lionel Messi is certainly a dream of all soccer players who came to Barcelona. However, Griezmann revealed the image of the dream like a film in his head.
“His words made me feel very happy. He’s the best. When he talks, the whole world listens. He knows this. That he would say that about me made me feel very proud. I insist that I’m desperate to finally play alongside him.” Griezmann said.
“I want to meet him, get to know him, watch him in training, play alongside him, provide assists. I’ve thought about it when I’m in bed, at training, and watching videos.
“You make the ‘film’ in your head and I know it’ll go well. It’ll be really nice.” he added.
In his debut, on July 23, in Japan, Griezmann played the first half of a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea. He started as a No.9, where he will battle for a spot with Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Countinho picked either side for him.
“On paper, it sounds really good. Later, you have to show it out on the pitch, but I trust us, I trust the team.” Griezmann said.
“There’s also Ousmane [Dembele], Malcom, Philippe [Coutinho] too. There are a lot of top-quality attackers who I’m sure will help the team do great things.” Griezmann added.
Meanwhile, PSG star Neymar looks nailed on for a return to Spain in a deal which could reach €200m. For Griezmann, he hoped the Brazilian gets his wish for a move back to Camp Nou.
“Let’s see what happens. There are a lot of details to a transfer. Neymar is world-class, a top player, so he could fit in at Barca.” Griezmann said.
