Antonio Conte slams the FA for only giving 3 days of rest after the 2022 World Cup

Tottenham Hotspur coach, Antonio Conte has opened his voice regarding the tight schedule of competitions on English soil. The Italian coach criticised the English Football Federation (FA) for not caring about the health of players, because they only gave three days of rest after the 2022 World Cup final.

As is known, the 2022 World Cup is getting closer. The quadrennial event will take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, 2022.

Although it is an event that has been awaited by many parties, some others criticised the course of the World Cup. One of them, Antonio Conte, criticised the most prestigious event.

He said that the 2022 World Cup would make the domestic league and Champions League schedules congested for all teams. He explained that the Premier League only had three days of rest after the 2022 World Cup final.

While other European leagues provide longer rest periods. Take for example the Italian League, which just started the competition at the beginning of January and the Spanish League, which was again held at the end of December 2022.

“I know about this situation, I know it’s crazy. A schedule like this doesn’t make sense,” said Antonio Conte.

“Honestly, it’s very strange that in England we started playing three days after the World Cup final. We’re the only country that does it. Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and others took the time to give players rest.”

The former Chelsea tactician felt the FA could not adjust the existing schedule. He also assessed that the tight schedule will greatly affect the health of the players. “I can’t believe that December 21, after three days from the final, we will play a game in the League Cup.

After those three days, you have to play in the Premier League,” he said angrily. On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur itself will face Liverpool in the 2022-2023 Premier League match. The match will take place at White Hart Lane Stadium, Sunday 6 November 2022.
