It could never have been critical to witness the whole family of the Edwin Khoo, 59 who has been the vice-captain of the Singapore wheelchair basketball team. Against Thailand, it has been his team’s first match in the 8th Asean Para Games at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in the afternoon of 6th December. Even his wife was found sitting with his three children and continued applauding him all the while. She was fervent enough with 16 more members from the extended family approximately with them.
Lana Tang Khoo’s spouse has also expressed enthusiastically that she took pride in seeing her husband play before the home crowd of Singapore. Even she was not used to see him paying very often. That’s why. It exited her a lot & it had been long since she watched him playing in Singapore. Even she was very frank in confiding about her husband’s revelations many years ago that Singapore lost got defeated by Thailand with a score of 114 to nil. Therefore, latest score of 19% has been adorable achievement for sure.
Thailand has been strategic to great extent in fielding a team of capable & professional basketball players who go through training six times a six times a week. The contributions come from experienced Thais who ended the game with 51-19 results.
Khoo’s daughter also added that the readiness for such performances was fairly exhausting & her dad used to come from practice matches being completely worn-out. Training was about to be three to four times per week.
After playing wheelchair basketball games of two decades or so, Khoo emerged out of retirement to attempt his debut at Asean Para Games. According to the version of a procurement manager of an engineering firm, one of the reasons is that they determined to be associated with APG with the purpose of exposing the game to more people. The younger has always been their target. According to them, it is really fun this sport is also for the disabled. The team may not be called young brigade where seven of them are almost sixty. Even there is also the requirement to drag the youth for the continuity of the sports.
While being interrogated on making an older team than that of the others in the competitions, Khoo made a positive response by saying that the team is made up of veterans & he is not in favor of using the word ‘old’.
He further emphasized that equivalent passion we all share for the sport, but apart from juggling our families & society; we deal with the right ways to make it take place. Even the prime minister of the city-state was also present there with a packed crowd which is mostly Singaporean.
