Three weeks ago Antonio Conte was officially announced as the new coach of Inter Milan replacing Luciano Spaletti. A sense of high optimism came from Interisti (nickname of Inter fans) to Conte, they hoped Inter Milan could break the thirst for a title in Serie A which in the last eight seasons was dominated by Juventus.
Before being officially announced, the issue of Antonio Conte’s being coached at Inter Milan had made Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini furious, he did not expect Conte to train at a club that was the arch enemy of the Old Lady, the Juventini (nickname of Juventus fans) also asked the party the club to remove Conte’s name in the history of Juventus’ success. Naturally, along with Juventus Contem presents 3 titles A series for the Old Lady.
But Conte is not the first coach to “betray” and become a rival club coach. There are at least three coaches before Conte did that, they are Giovanni Trapattoni, Marcello Lippi and Claudio Ranieri, but the last name will not be the point of this paper.
Giovanni Trapattoni became Juventus coach for ten seasons since the 1976-1986 season, in ten seasons Juventus became the ruler of Italy, not only in Italy in European competition, Mr. Trapp twice brought Juventus to the final where one of them won the 1984-1985 season.
Success with Juventus made Inter Milan hook him up as a coach, unfortunately he failed to repeat his achievements at the club before, for five seasons from 1986-1991 with Inter, Mr. Trapp only presented one Italian league title and one UEFA Cup title.
Likewise with Marcello Lippi, when menukangi Juventus for five seasons from 1994-1999, Lippi successfully presented three Scudetto trophies and one Champions League title. Even Juventus brought it through the final of the event three seasons in a row.
But when he became an Inter coach, Lippi was considered a failure where he could only survive in Appiano Gentile for a season and did not give any titles even though at that time Inter contained world class players such as Roberto Baggio, Ronaldo and Youri Djorkaeff.
THREE DEFENDERS FORMATION
In addition to Inter’s disadvantages when hooking up the former coach of a rival club, Inter was also overshadowed by a mismatch with a coach who applied a formation with three defenders. And as is known that Conte is one of the trainers who applied the formation.
There are some coaches who have gushed Inter Milan who is a coach coach who applied a formation that is almost the same as Conte and failed with Si Biru Hitam.
Alberto Zaccheroni’s name became the first to start, in the 2003-2004 season replacing Hector Cuper who was fired at the start of the season, Zacch was only able to make Inter finish fourth in Serie A, and in the Champions League Inter even failed to qualify from the group stage.
Walter Mazzari, who handled Inter in the 2013-2014 season, also did not give any achievements, even though he saw his performance at Napoli, Inter expected a lot from the coach. The same thing happened to Gianpiero Gasperini in the 2011 season even Gasperini could only survive for three weeks before finally being fired.
The question is, can Antonio Conte give achievements at Inter like what he did with Juventus and Chelsea?
