Champions League Top Scorer, Lewandowski and Ronaldo’s Goal Machines Haven’t Stopped

Robert Lewandowski is still leading the list of top scorers in the 2021-2022 Champions League amid the pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo. Robert Lewandowski was one of the actors in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win over Dynamo Kiev on the fifth matchday of Group E of the 2021-2022 Champions League. He contributed one goal for Die Roten in the match which was held at the Stadio NSC Olimpiyskiy.

With his notch against Dynamo Kiev, Lewandowski has always scored in nine consecutive Champions League matches. Lewandowski had previously made similar achievements in the September 2019-August 2020 range.

In addition, one goal against Kiev made Lewandowski firmly at the top of the 2012-2022 Champions League top scorer list. The Polish striker has scored nine goals. Robert Lewandowski is two goals ahead of Ajax Amsterdam striker Sebastian Haller in second place. Haller’s goal collection could still increase this week, considering that Ajax only played against Besiktas on Thursday (11/25/2021).

Just below Lewandowski and Haller is Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo with six goals. Ronaldo just added to his goal collection when he led Man United to a 2-0 win over Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica. He opened the Red Devils’ lead in the 78th minute before Jadon Sancho ripped Villarreal’s net in stoppage time (90′).

CR7 became the first player to score in his first five Champions League games for an English team in a single season. Ronaldo’s contribution also led the Red Devils to the last 16 of the 2021-2022 Champions League as winners of Group F.

While Lewandowski and Ronaldo show each other their ability to break into the opponent’s goal, Lionel Messi is still dragging goals. As of the fourth matchday, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star has only scored three goals. However, Messi has the opportunity to add to his goal collection when PSG travel to Manchester City’s headquarters, the Etihad Stadium, in the fifth match of Group A.

2021-2022 Champions League top scorer list as of Wednesday (11/24/2021):
9 goals – Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
7 goals – Sebastian Haller (Ajax Amsterdam)
6 goals – Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)
5 goals – Christopher Nkunku (RB Leipzig), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
4 goals – Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich), Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City).
