Chelsea Might Toppled from the Top 4 of EPL

Chelsea made it to the FA Cup final after brilliantly defeating Manchester United 3-1 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. In the final they will face fellow London team Arsenal. Success that should be welcomed happily by Frank Lampard’s squad with their fans.

But did you know, Chelsea currently have to face a schedule not easily displayed by the Premier League in reaching the top 4. They must face the two remaining steep matches, namely against Liverpool and Wolverhampton.

Currently Chelsea are in the 3rd position of the standings until the 36th match with 63 points. Leaving the game against Liverpool. The next place is Leicester with 62 points but has finished 37 games losing 0-3 to Spurs. While ranked 5th is Manchester United with 62 points leaving a game against West Ham.

Chelsea and United’s schedule on Matchweek 37 takes place on the same day, Thursday. Manchester United’s match against West Ham takes place first at Old Trafford. Two hours later the Liverpool match took place against Chelsea. How is Chelsea’s chance to face the decisive fight they are in the last 4?

Chelsea is Safe in the Big 4

Seeing the composition of the standings Chelsea must secure the match against Liverpool to open up opportunities to survive in the top 4 positions. They visited Anfield on Thursday with a mission not inferior to the hosts. Being able to win or hold draw for host Liverpool is a very good result for Chelsea.

If Chelsea just hold Liverpool draw, then they remain in the top 4 with 64 points. While Manchester United won 65 points if only won against West Ham in their 36th match. While Leicester is still ranked fifth with 62 points.

In the final match of the Premier League, Chelsea will face Wolverhampton who ambition to qualify for the European League. They are the squad of the Wolves need a victory to maintain its position ranked 6th from the pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur. While Chelsea need a minimum draw to stay in the top 4.

Manchester United and Leicester will face each other to win this big 4 ticket. There is no other way for the two teams to beat each other to secure their position.

Chelsea Threatened from the Big 4

Chelsea’s new position threatened if they lose to Liverpool. Losing points at Anfield makes Chelsea remain with only 63 points in 4th place under Manchester United with 65 points if they win over West Ham.

In this position Chelsea were eliminated from the top 4 if in the last game lost to Wolverhampton and Leicester defeated United. At that time Chelsea were in 5th place with 63 points while United and Leicester were in the top 4 with 65 points each.

It must be noted that teams like Wolverhamption cannot be underestimated in their work in this year’s competition. They defeated City twice 2-0 each at Etihad on 6 October 2019 and 3-2 at Molineux Stadium, on 28 December 2019.

Chelsea must be careful with the motivation of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad could frustrate Chelsea’s top 4 missions. Another team that was also beaten by Wolves was that Tottenham were beaten in London by 3-2 and Everton were last beaten 3-0 at Molineux Stadium.

Good luck, Chelsea. The main key is the match at Anfield must get points not to get zero points. Just one point from Liverpool is a great relief for Frank Lampard to secure their chances in the last 4.
