Complaint of PSSI to FIFA, Malaysia Submitted Documents of 18 pages

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has confirmed that they filed the complaint of Football Association of Indonesia, known as PSSI, to FIFA. FAM has officially reported PSSI to FIFA related to the incident after the match between the Malaysian national team against the Indonesian national team at the Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Thursday (05/09/2019).

In the first match of qualifying for Group G in the 2022 World Cup World Cup Qualification, the Malaysian national team defeated the Indonesian national team with a thin score of 3-2. Three Malaysian national team winning goals were contributed by Mohamadou Sumareh (37th minute, 90 + 7 ‘) and Syafiq Ahmad (66’). The Indonesian national team only managed to donate two goals through Beto Goncalves (12 ‘, 39’).

This very tight match was marred with riots by Indonesian supporters. As a result, the match was stopped to overcome the riots. The aftermath of this chaotic action made FAM immediately take action by reporting PSSI to FIFA.

FAM said that PSSI failed to anticipate supporters clashes between the two teams and failed to provide safety guarantees for Malaysian supporters.. “FIFA has received reports from match and security commissioners,” said Stuart Ramalingan.

“The report or complaint that we made is intended to remind FIFA that there may be possible problems that are not reported from the match commissioner and security,” he said. “The evidence that we included in the complaint is a video link and images of related incidents inside and outside the stadium. We can obtain evidence from various sources, including videos that are spread on social media,” he said.

“We believe FIFA and AFC will make the best decision based on their assessment of the available evidence,” Stuart said. This report makes PSSI potentially get severe punishment from FIFA.

Previously, related to the threat of being sanctioned by FIFA, PSSI General Secretary Ratu Thisa, admitted surrender with the decision. She said that her party was ready to accept sanctions imposed by FIFA on Indonesia, including getting punishment of match without supporters against Thailand in the second match of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.

“We are ready if we get punishment from FIFA,” Ratu Tisha said. “There is no concern if match against Thailand are without spectators. What has to be there is the fighting spirit of the players,” he said.
