Former Manchester United Star, Dion Dublin said it is difficult for the Red Devils to keep Cristiano Ronaldo if he does not show optimistic signals about the future.
Brighton dealt Manchester United a fresh blow on Saturday, serving them a 4-0 thrashing – a result which means they have no chances left of logging fourth place on the Premier League standings.
Ronaldo has 12 months left on his contract at Old Trafford but with the club set to miss out on Champions League qualification his future remains uncertain.
However, incoming manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly reached out to the 37-year-old to tell the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker, he will be part of his plans going forward.
“I don’t know where Cristiano Ronaldo will go. Will he go back to Italy or Spain? I have no idea, but I don’t think he’ll stay at United unless something incredible happens.” Dublin said.
“I think United will be lost without him. To be Honesty, I can’t see any reason why he’s want to stay. Unless the new coach saya that he has 300 million and he’s going to sign superstars. If the opposite happens, I think he’ll leave,” Dublin added.
Another former United star, Gary Neville, also expressed his disappointment with his old team.
On social his social media account, Neville posted a status line with only one dot character, implying that he no longer knew what to say about United.
After 8 hours of posting, the status line attracted about 60,000 interactions. In the comments section, most United fans expressed sympathy for Neville.
Ronaldo now drop to third in the race of Premier League top scorer 2021/22 with only 18 goals. The two players ranked above Ronaldo are Son Heung-min (19 goals) and Mohamed Salah (22 goals).
