Indonesian forward Egy Maulana is no longer on the list of FK Senica club in the second half of the 2021/22 season due to the expiration of his contract.
According to Egy’s agent, the contract between Egy and FK Senica has just expired on December 31, 2021. The player dubbed “Messi Indonesia” joined the Slovakian club from the beginning of the 2021/22 season with a short-term deal for 6 months, with an option to extend for another year and a half.
However, after Egy’s contract expires, FK Senica’s side has not yet activated the renewal option. This means that the 21-year-old midfielder has become a free agent after returning from the AFC Suzuki Cup 2020.
FK Senica has not made any official announcement about extending Egy’s contract despite rumours the club will keep him. Dusan Bogdanovic, Egy’s agent also confirmed the client’s future.
“There are no new contracts at this time. It’s all just rumours. Everyone please be patient. Egy’s fate will be revealed in the next few days. Currently, the young striker is still on winter break. His future will be clarified as soon as he returns.” Bagdanovic said.
Egy’s future became a topic of discussion for fans of the Land of Ten Thousand Islands after the end of Suzuki AFC Cup 2020.
On his personal Instagram, Egy removed FK Senica from the description, implicitly announcing that he was no longer a player of this club.
During the half of 2021/22 season with FK Senica, Egy played very impressive. He scored 2 goals and 4 assists in 15 matches.
However, FK Senica has encountered a financial crisis that has made them unable to retain a few players in recent times. And the downtime in renewing with Egy may be due to this reason.
