EPL Might Stop Early Due to Corona Virus Outbreak

The English Premiere League (EPL) has postponed all matches until the beginning of April 2020 in an effort to break the transmission of the corona virus outbreak for two weeks. It is planned that the competition will resume on April 4, 2020.

This week all English Football League officials are scheduled to hold a meeting to decide on the next step. The meeting discussed a comprehensive evaluation of the safety of the Covid-19 outbreak for competition. And determine the steps in dealing with obstacles that might have to occur. At the meeting it will also be decided whether the competition continues or not.

Chief Executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), Gordon Taylor argues as reported by Skysports.com, that ended the season early because the coronavirus outbreak was unfair and did not look good.

Meanwhile, a senior source at a Premier League top club told Sky Sports News that he believes there is a 75 percent chance this season will not be finished. Even more interesting is the opinion of West Ham United club vice chairman Karren Brady that the campaign must be declared null and void. That means this year is considered to be no competition by canceling all matches that have been carried out by all participants.

But Taylor said every effort must be made to finish all the remaining matches, told Skyspots.com: “So I think we have to do everything we can. I think it will look very strange if we start the season new. That will be an unfinished business behind us and I don’t think it will look good. “

The clubs that are currently at the top, they have fought well and deserve to be there. Meanwhile, clubs at the bottom of the board are entitled to be given the opportunity to get out of the zone. That’s what the Premier League has to do as the competition initially leads to the same goal.

About the discourse of withdrawing the Euro 2020 event into 2021 as proposed by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). “We will propose to UEFA to postpone the European Cup 2020 event,” said Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian Football Federation, as reported by Foxsports.com. Taylor strongly agrees. The withdrawal is the right course of action. However the club must take precedence over the International arena.

Domestic competition still has to be finished with the number of matches according to the initial schedule. This takes into account how much investment the League member clubs have and how serious they are in facing this competition. Hopefully a smart solution will be found in dealing with the threat of Covid-19 transmission so that competition activities can take place again. All the football lovers, especially EPL fans through out the world are all waiting for the good news.
