Monster Energy Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo on Tuesday underwent successful surgery on his right forearm to treat his arm pump problems. He will race at the French Grand Prix on May 16.
The object of the operation was unblock his ulnar artery, which he suffered during the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.
“Fabio Quartararo underwent successful surgery for compartment syndrome or arm pump today at the Aix-en-Provence hospital center.” Yamaha said in a statement.
“It is expected that he will be fit again for the French Grand Prix, organized from May 14 to 16.” Yamaha added.
The Jerez circuit is one of the most physically difficult circuits with a MotoGP, very short straight lines, so short that they are no longer even straight lines because the riders fight with their motorbikes to get back on the right braking path, a lot of fast corners and three very slow corners, so big braking and big acceleration.
Quartararo had an impressive pace in the race to try to make the hole with his pursuers, he was trying to take cover in case of wear of his rear tire in the last 5 laps. But there’s a big difference between doing one or two really fast laps and doing 7 or 8.
“Only one thing in mind, the next home race. The doctors told me that the operation for the arm pump went very well.” Quartararo said.
“I can’t wait to start working on the arm this week to be 100% for Le Mans. I feel very positive about my recovery and can’t wait to get my M1 back.” Quartararo added.
The French rider performance on Sunday was impressive at Jerez. He looked comfortably on course to extend his title lead with a third race win in a row. However, Quartararo finished in 13th place due to an arm pump injury.
