Francesco Bagnaia Keen to Ride His Ducati GP22

Francesco Bagnaia will start his fourth season as a MotoGP rider in 2022 after scoring a podium place for the first time in 2020, the final breakthrough came in 2021.

The Italian rider and his Ducati brand mates have not yet managed to really dominate during the two winter tests – in Sepang and Mandalika, Bagnaia is satisfied with the new GP22 and the updates that will be available next season.

“Testing is testing because you have to try a lot of things, we were particularly focused on how to use this bike to the full 100%.” Bagnaia said.

“Little by little we figured out how the new updates work best. We did the work we had to do, we pushed ourselves with the whole team.

“Mandalika was a good job. Fast lap times are important, but we mainly focused on doing a lot of laps on used tires, something that is more useful to us than doing that one fast lap.” Bagnaia added.

In last season, Bagnaia saw the MotoGP title slip out of his hands, mainly due to a number of mistakes in the first part of the season, costly mistakes as became painfully clear in the second part of the season.

“We don’t have to hide, our goal is to become world champions in 2022. It will be fundamental to be competitive right away. I think the bike and the team are at an incredible level, I’ve trained hard and well and I feel more than ready.” Bagnaia said.

“I made a lot of mistakes in 2021 that I learned from. Although there are many rivals this year. Fabio Quartararo will be there again in 2022, but let’s not lose sight of Marc Marquez, he will be there too.” he added.
