Hattrick Ranking – Top Ronaldo, Number 8 Ibrahimovic, Messi…

The three goals against Cagliari solidified Cristiano Ronaldo’s position in the top ladder of the 21st century hat-trick scorer. Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a brilliant performance by buying up all of Juventus’ 3-1 winning goals against Cagliari in Week 27 of the Italian League 2020-2021, Sunday (14/3/2021).

The goal made by Ronaldo resulted in him passing over the record of Brazilian legend Pele. Now, Ronaldo is recorded to gain 770 goals throughout his professional career with the Portuguese club and national team. The attacker with the initials CR7 is three goals ahead of Pele whose score stopped at 767. Apart from being able to pass Pele, the hat trick against Cagliari also allowed Ronaldo to establish the position as the producer of the most hat-tricks in the 21st century.

Launching from the data presented by the Italian media, Corriere dello Sport, Ronaldo has packed 57 hat-tricks throughout his career. In details, 44 hat-tricks were recorded by CR7 with Real Madrid, 9 in the Portugal national team shirt, 3 while wearing the Juventus shirt, and 1 while strengthening the Man United banner. Ronaldo is moving further from his eternal rival, Lionel Messi, who is in the second place on the list.

Since the new millennium, Lionel Messi has successfully recorded 54 hat-tricks. Messi’s hat-trick were scattered for Barcelona (48 hat-tricks) and the Argentine national team (6). The hat-trick ranking shows how Ronaldo and Messi have a class of their own.

Meanwhile, Luis Suarez, who occupies the third ladder, is very far away from Ronaldo and Messi. Luis Suarez “just” scored 29 times hat-trick. The striker who is now strengthening Atletico Madrid was tacked by Robert Lewandowski in fourth place with a collection of 24 hat-tricks.

The top 10 ranking list is then completed by Mario Gomez, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, and Sergio “Kun” Aguero who are in line five to seven. Mario Gomez, Huntelaar and Aguero have both produced 18 hat-tricks at club and national team level.

The aging AC Milan striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, followed in eighth place with 17 hat-tricks (10 with Paris Saint-Germain, 4 with the Swedish national team, and 1 each while defending AC Milan, Juventus and Man United). The last two spots in the top 10 hat-trick scorers in the 21st century are occupied by Edinson Cavani and Harry Kane. Cavani and Kane are actually in an equal position, according to the record of 15 hat-tricks recorded by each striker.
