Italian League Results: Juventus Champion, Ronaldo Makes ‘Assist’

Juventus managed to secure the Serie A 2018/2019 Italian League title after beating Fiorentina 2-1 in the Week 33 match at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday (20/4).

Certainty of champion for the Old Lady thanks to the strange contribution of Cristiano Ronaldo. La Vecchia Signora scored the winner through an own goal from Fiorentina defender, German Pezzella, in the 53rd minute.

Pezzella made an own goal because he tried to drive Ronaldo’s cross horizontally. Yes, the Portuguese striker recorded an assist in the Fiorentina defender’s own goal.

Juventus had trailed 0-1 to Fiorentina in the sixth minute through a goal by Nikola Milenkovic.

The goal began with Federico Chiesa’s effort to release a horizontal cross from the left side of the Juventus defense. The Juve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny pushed over the ball, but bounced and headed for Milenkovic.

He immediately released a kick and the ball lodged into the goal of Juventus without being able to prevent Szczesny who was in an unprepared position.

The Old Lady managed to reply to the goal at once equalizing the score thanks to Alex Sandro’s goal in the 37th minute. A sweet pass from Miralem Pjanic’s corner was successfully forwarded to a goal by Alex Sandro’s header.

The score lasted 1-1 until halftime. In the second half, Juventus increased the intensity of the attack to ensure the Italian league title this season.

The effort was successful in the 53rd minute. Goals originated from the action of Cristiano Ronaldo who released a horizontal assist from right into the penalty box aimed at Federico Bernadeschi.

Pezzella tried to cut Ronaldo’s pass, but instead the ball nested into the goal of his team so that Juventus turned 2-1 ahead of Fiorentina.

The score lasted until the fight was over. Juventus also ensured the victory as well as the 2018/2019 Italian League champions.

Although still leaving five more matches for Juventus, the acquisition of 87 points they got was unable to be pursued again by Napoli, who currently ranked second to collect 67 points and leave six more games.

“I am very happy to win the Italian title in my first season. This is a great season with Juventus, we also won the Italian Super Cup title.”

“We are not very good at failing in the Champions League, but there are still next year. I am 1,000 percent going to survive [at Juventus],” Ronaldo said as quoted by Reuters.

CR7’s statement at the same time denied the issue that he would leave Juventus after being eliminated from the Champions League quarter-finals.
