Italy Serie A Results: Lazio Beat AC Milan 3-0

Lazio beat AC Milan 3-0 in Week 33 of the Italian League at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Tuesday (27/4).

According to WhoScored records, le Aquile was actually less dominant than Milan. They only hold possession of the ball by 40 percent. In terms of opportunities, Lazio took 14 shots with 5 aiming at the goal. The Rossoneri made 16 opportunities, 5 of which were on target.

Since the referee Daniele Orsato blew the whistle to mark the kick-off of the first half, AC Milan immediately took the initiative to attack.

The game has only been running for one minute, Milan has got a good chance. Receiving feedback from Mario Mandzukic, Hakan Calhanoglu fired a shot from outside the penalty box. However, goalkeeper Pepe Reina was able to thwart this opportunity.

Lazio only need two minutes to open up the advantage in this match. Lazio’s first goal was scored by an Argentinian player, Joaquin Correa.

Correa scores goals in a beautiful way. He tricked several Milan players and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma before hitting the ball into an empty net.

Lazio continued to apply the pressure after Correa’s goal. Several opportunities were created through Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto but this did not lead to additional goals.

Milan just responded to entering the middle of the first half. Defender Simon Kjaer gets a chance through a header after receiving a corner from Hakan Calhanoglu who is still on the right side of Lazio’s goal.

In the 35th minute, Milan get another opportunity through Alexis Saelemaekers. He fired a shot from outside the penalty box which was still right in Pepe Reina’s catch.

Towards the end of the first half, Lazio actually managed to break into Milan’s goal for the second time. However, the goal was disallowed after seeing the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) because Manuel Lazzari was already in an offside position before scoring.

At the start of the second half, Correa was again a nightmare for Milan. The former Sevilla player scored another class goal as he was able to score a goal after passing Fikayo Tomori in a one-on-one duel.

The 2-0 lead over Milan gave Lazio the upper hand. On the other hand, the Rossoneri’s efforts to reduce the score never came.

Milan also slumped further three minutes before the second half ended. Lazio managed to increase the score to 3-0 after Lazzari’s pass was completed by Ciro Immobile to thrill Milan’s goal.

Lazio managed to keep a 3-0 score until the second half ended. This crushing defeat at Lazio headquarters made Milan knocked out of the top four of the Italian League standings.
