Joachim Low to Continue His Post Until 2022

The German Football Association (DFB) has announced Joachim Low will remain in his post on Monday and will lead Mannschaft at the Euro. His contract as head coach runs until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The presidium, which was to meet Friday to decide the future of Low, therefore advanced its decision and agreed with the opinion of the management committee and Oliver Bierhoff, director of the national teams.

“The presidium of the DFB unanimously decided on Monday during a teleconference, to continue with coach Joachim Low the difficult path of renewal started in March 2019,” the DFB said in a press release.

The five most senior leaders of the Federation met Low on Monday, whose head seemed to be hanging by a thread after the 6-0 loss to Spain in the League of Nations on November 17, the heaviest rout of the German team since 1931.

“During this meeting, Joachim Low informed the participants of his analyses, his designs and his projects. The members of the steering committee unanimously concluded that the high quality of the work of the coaching staff, the intact relationship between the manager and the team, and a clear concept of the course followed so far and to follow were valid arguments.” the DBF said.

“An isolated match cannot and should not be used as a measure for the overall performance of the national team and the coach.

“Our eyes must remain fixed on the preparation of the Euro next year. We have the firm conviction that Joachim Low and his team of coaches will succeed despite a difficult situation for everyone,” they added.

In effort to leave room for the new generation, Low retired Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng, and Mats Hummels internationally in March 2019, when they were barely 30 years old.
