Liverpool coach, Juergen Klopp, believes that Darwin Nunez has silenced the critics after he scored four goals against RB Leipzig. Liverpool won 5-0 victory over Red Bull Leipzig in a test match at the Red Bull Arena, Germany, Friday (22/7/2022). Liverpool’s new striker, Darwin Nunez, became the star of the Reds’ victory by scoring four goals, aka quattrick.
Mohamed Salah opened the tap for Liverpool’s first goal in the eighth minute. Nunez, who only came on at the start of the second half, needed just three minutes to start the scoring streak through the penalty spot (48′). The referee awarded a penalty to Liverpool after Luis Diaz was fouled by Leipzig’s substitute goalkeeper, Janis Blaswich.
Nunez, who went down as the executor, was able to maximize this opportunity even though his shot could be read by the opposing goalkeeper. After that, the Uruguayan bomber scored three additional goals through open play (52′), (68′), and (90′).
Liverpool’s landslide victory is at the same time a proving ground for Nunez. In the previous two test matches, Nunez failed to show his sharpness when the Reds faced Manchester United (0-4) and Crystal Palace (2-0).

Klopp also spoke about Nunez’s performance after Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Lepizig. The German coach initially said it was normal for a new player not to appear perfect immediately. “We always think that if you spend a lot of money, the players don’t feel pressure or anything,” Klopp said. “They are all completely normal human beings and if their first touch isn’t perfect, then…” he said.
“The current generation of players read social media, which is not smart, but they do. You then get rushed (on the pitch) and so on,” Klopp continued. “The goals were definitely the best way to stop all this talk (criticism). He is a different type of striker than what we already have. He is really good,” said Klopp. “It was of course the perfect night for him,” said the former Borussia Dortmund tactician. After this, Liverpool will undergo a test match against RB Salzburg, Thursday (28/7/2022).
