Keita and Firmino Bring Liverpool to a 2-0 win over Porto

Liverpool won the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against FC Porto 2-0 in the match at Anfield Stadium on Wednesday (10/4). Liverpool, who acted as the host, dominated the game. Domination made Liverpool able to win with a convincing score.

Liverpool played nicely from the early minutes with more possession. Juergen Klopp’s side took advantage of the host’s status to make Porto more defensive. Porto who tried to play attack and do pressing in the early minutes of the game must suffer conceded in the fourth minute.

Sadio Mane who received a pass on the left then gave the ball to Roberto Firminho. The Brazilian striker then fed Naby Keita who immediately opened fire. The ball that hit Oliver Torres went into the goal without being able to anticipate by Iker Casillas.

Porto tried to get up and try to return to playing like in the early minutes, but a solid Liverpool game made it difficult for them to make a chance.

Mohamed Salah has the opportunity in the 18th and 22nd minutes which has not ended a goal.

The new score changed in the 26th minute. Jordan Henderson sent a breakthrough pass to Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Liverpool youngster then sent a mature pass to Firmino who scored with a simple finish.

Porto had the chance to reduce the score if the referee awarded a penalty in the 30th minute. Trent accidentally touched the ball with his hand in the penalty box.

Moussa Marega had tested Alisson Becker’s toughness when the first round match entered the final third.

The second half runs less than three minutes, Liverpool have managed to break into Porto’s goal. But Sadio Mane’s goal did not change the score because the Senegal national team player was considered to be in an offside position.

Marega became a dangerous player in Porto. The existence of the player from Mali had made Alisson and Virgil Van Dijk misunderstand in driving the ball. Luckily for Liverpool the ball is not in a dangerous area.

Liverpool are quite dominant in attacking, but find obstacles to enter deeper into the opponent’s defense to make chances. Salah was tried to shoot twice but was blocked by his own colleague.
