Leaving from Juventus, Gonzalo Higuain joins Inter Miami

The United States premier football league club, Major League Soccer, namely Inter Miami, announced on Friday (18/9) that it had received Gonzalo Higuain’s signature. This announcement was made after Higuain left the Serie A club Juventus.

“I want to thank Inter Miami for their efforts to sign me. I think this will be a wonderful experience in my life,” said Higuain, quoted by AFP.

“This is what I am looking for, new experiences, new leagues and a beautiful city. I am very happy to be here and it has been played. My goal is to try to transfer all the experience I have in Europe and help the team develop,” he said.

Inter Miami’s Sporting Director Paul McDonough said he was pleased with Higuain’s contract to add to the team experience.

“Our goal is not only to bring elite players to Inter Miami, but also to good people who share our ambitions and aspirations to make history in US football, and we believe we found that at Gonzalo,” said McDonough.

Higuain’s debut at Inter Miami is believed to be on September 23, when the team takes on New York Red Bull. Inter Miami currently needs high spirits, because this club is at the bottom of the standings with two wins and two draws in 11 matches.

Higuain moved to Juventus from Napoli for a transaction value of US $ 106.5 million in 2016. However, after undergoing two brilliant seasons and passing on loan to AC Milan and Chelsea, the 32-year-old athlete chose to join Inter Miami which is owned by David Beckham.

On Thursday (17/9) Juventus announced Higuain’s contract had been terminated. The new Juventus coach, Andrea Pirlo, said Higuain was not part of the club’s plans.

Higuain joins another former Juventus player at Inter Miami, namely Blaise Matuidi. He also plays in the same league as his older brother, Federico, who defends Inter Miami’s rivals, D.C United.

During his time in Juventus uniform, Higuain recorded 149 matches in various events from 2016 to 2020.

On this occasion, Higuain managed to score 66 goals and 58 assists for the defending champions of the Italian League.
