Main enemies ready to pounce on Liverpool

Liverpool will never lose their passion next season if they want to retain the English League title. In the 2020/2021 season the Reds will be fierce competition from the duo of Manchester and Chelsea.

Preparation for the Premier League 2020/2021 began to be seen when the competition was restarted after the corona virus pandemic in June.

Manchester United and Chelsea are a team that is quite ready to challenge Liverpool next season, apart from Man City. Although both teams still have a number of weaknesses and need immediate improvement.

The three teams above have advantages and almost similar problems and need to be fixed to be able to rival the Reds. Even so, Liverpool will not have the same fate as last season next season.

In the English League, Manchester United closed the 2019/2020 season with a record of unbeaten in 14 consecutive matches, with 9 of them winning. Including not losing in 9 matches after the restart (6 wins, 3 draws).

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s concoction began to be accepted and could be applied well by Nemanja Matic and friends.

The presence of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba’s return from injury provided a breath of fresh air for the Red Devils. When Fernandes played, Manchester United never lost in 14 matches. The Portuguese midfielder contributed to 15 MU goals, 8 goals and 7 assists.

Aside from Fernandes, Manchester United’s attack line also performed brilliantly in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak. Mason Greenwood’s trio, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have promising performances for next season.

A slick combination of midfield and front that also led the Reds Devils to third place in the English League final standings, as well as locking one place in the Champions League next season.

Manchester United attack line performance can be even more terrible if the club based at Old Trafford brought Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund or midfielder Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

Grealish and Sancho can provide another variation in Manchester United’s attack next season, when one of Greenwood, Rashford, or Martial gets stuck and Fernandes or Pogba loses creativity.

However, the good performance of these two lines could be in vain if Manchester United did not buy another player in the back line. Manchester United may not need to buy another center back, provided Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly improve their performance next season.

Throughout this season, Manchester United is still troubled by mistakes from their defenders, coupled with goalkeeper David de Gea who made several blunders.

Manchester United still has one choice to patch De Gea’s error under the rule; namely providing an opportunity for Sergio Romero and returning Dean Henderson who performed well with Sheffield United.

Manchester United problems are almost similar to Chelsea who finished fourth. The back line and goalkeeper are fragile, but strong in the middle and front sectors.

Frank Lampard successfully combines young players like Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, to Tammy Abraham with senior players like Willian and Olivier Giroud.

It’s just that the back line loses quality. The Blues need a defender like John Terry with his duet partner Gary Cahill to compete in the championship ladder.

Chelsea’s crisis was increasingly seen when Kepa Arrizabalaga, who became one of the most expensive goalkeepers, was not optimal. He lost 5 starts in the Premier League 5 times this season.

Chelsea deserve to be placed as one of Liverpool’s competitors by seeing their stretch in the transfer market this time. For the 2020/2021 season, the London club has already brought in two stars, Hakim Ziyech from Ajax Amsterdam and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

Seeing these two activities, Lampard seems to be the focus of Chelsea’s attack sector next season. Because, Chelsea is also said to still intend to bring versatile player, Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, the name Man City cannot be ignored from the Premier League champions’ exchange next season. Despite the slump this season and failing to retain the title, but The Citizens are a team that has a good foundation and only needs patching at the back.

Vincent Kompany’s loss had a major impact on the quality of Manchester Blue’s back line. Aymeric Laporte no longer has an equivalent duet, because Nicholas Otamendi and John Stones often make mistakes. Plus Laporte himself is often injured.

Coach Pep Guardiola needs to focus on this defense sector, plus a little evaluation in midfield after the departure of David Silva.

So far only Man City, Man United, and Chelsea can be a ‘nuisance’ for Liverpool to retain the Premier League title next season looking at their track record last season. All three are promising to make Liverpool uncomfortable since the start of the 2020/2021 season.

However, Liverpool themselves also need to be consistent with their performances since the beginning of the season in 2020/2021 later.

In 2019/2020 Jurgen Klopp’s team have proven their performance in the Premier League. When they were stable since the start of the season, when it was also Jordan Henderson and his friends deserved to be champions.

However, when the Premier League stopped due to the corona virus pandemic and restarted, Liverpool seemed to lose passion.

Report cards are only one draw and one defeat before the break increases with two draws and two defeats after the restart. A number of pure mistakes were made at the back, including Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

In fact, the title Liverpool received this season looks like a gift from Man City. After beating Crystal Palace 4-0, Liverpool were declared champions because Man City lost 1-2 to Chelsea in Week 31.

If Man City win over Chelsea, then Liverpool will have to wait longer for the championship because they were held to a 0-0 draw at Everton in Week 30.

After officially becoming a champion, the appearance of Andy Robertson and his friends even more dilapidated by swallowing two defeats and one draw.

The desire to pass Man City’s 100 point record in the 2017/2018 season also fails. The reason is, at the end of the season Liverpool points only stuck at number 99.

Therefore, a great passion and consistent performance is needed by Liverpool to regain the English League championship season 2020/2021.

If since the beginning of the season the Reds have been windy, the English League trophy will only stop one season in their cup cupboard and fall into the hands of one of Man City, Man United, or Chelsea.
