Marc Marquez spoke very openly and honestly about his current situation and the problems he still faces at Motorland Aragon on Thursday before the weekend.
The Repsol Honda Team rider admitted this earlier this season at the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring where he returned to the top step of the podium for the first time since his upper arm that took him out of the running for nine months.
“I know that I will feel really good during the first free practice. But we’ll have to wait and see how this goes for the rest of the weekend.” Marquez said.
“It’s true that Motorland Aragon is a track I like, a layout I like, and lots of left corners that put less strain on my right arm.
“But we’ll see, because sometimes the position in the left turns is not quite natural. But I just want to ride the bike and not think too much about the bike and the injury.” Marquez added.
Marquez has made the necessary changes to the Honda RC213V since his comeback and we also see that he recently started using a thumb brake on his left handlebar.
According to the Spaniard, these are just details and there are other things that hinder him much more in his long road to a full recovery.
“Normally I try to find a good position in the first laps. But it’s not the same to start from the first or second row as it is from the third or fourth row. It’s completely different.” Marquez said.
“It is true that this year I usually gain a lot of positions in the early rounds because that is one of my strengths and I have to take advantage of that. But we have to improve our speed because the further up front you start, the easier everything gets.” he added.
