Mbappe is the end of PSG’s shining star

It has been confirmed that Kylian Mbappe will leave PSG this summer and it is reported that his new club destination is Real Madrid. Even though there has been no official word on joining Los Blancos, the French striker is believed to be moving to the Spanish capital club, and has reportedly even been given the number 10 jersey.

The number 10 jersey at Real Madrid is currently used by Luka Modric and next season, Modric will reportedly leave El Real and has been invited by Madrid tactician Carlo Ancelotti to join the Los Blancos coaching staff.

Regardless of whether Mbappe officially goes to Madrid or not, one thing is certain, if the 25 year old striker leaves the Parc des Princes, then the stardom at the French capital club will end.

It cannot be denied that currently, Mbappe’s name shines brighter than other PSG players, such as Gianluigi Donnarumma, Keylor Navas, Ousmane Dembele, Lee Kang-in, and Achraf Hakimi.

Mbappe himself is still the focus of Luis Enrique’s team. If we talk about the chances of winning French Ligue 1 this season, it seems there is no need to talk about it anymore, because PSG is already comfortable at the top of the standings this season with a 12-point lead over closest competitor Brest in second place.

PSG’s only hope from Kylian Mbappe before leaving is that the star can deliver the Champions League title that club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has dreamed of since acquiring the club in 2011.

PSG has now managed to reach the quarter-finals of the 2023-24 Champions League and will face Barcelona. If Mbappe succeeds in winning the Champions League trophy, then the title will be a beautiful ending for both of them.

On the other hand, if it fails, apart from the loss of PSG’s star shine, the hope of winning the Champions League will certainly only remain a hope. Yes, Nasser acquired PSG in 2011, a number of star players were brought in with the first hope of being able to dominate the domestic space which was previously dominated by Marseille and Lyon, then being able to dominate Europe by winning the Champions League.

Starting from Javier Pastore, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Beckham, Edinson Cavani, to Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe, including Lionel Messi. Not only players, PSG also brought in experienced coaches, such as Carlo Ancelotti, so they could bring the ‘Big Ears’ trophy into their title collection cupboard, but they still couldn’t succeed.

This season, apart from Mbappe, PSG still has other quality players as mentioned above. However, for next season, it seems very difficult for them to bring in other star players to maintain this ambition.

So far there are two names said to be brought in to replace Mbappe next season, namely Luis Diaz from Liverpool and Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

Nevertheless, both of them will still not be able to replace the big name of Mbappe, especially since the quality of Diaz and Rashford can also be said to be not as good as Mbappe.

Since 2011, PSG has always succeeded in bringing in big-name players, but it looks like for the 2024-25 season, PSG will have difficulty recruiting as they usually do.

Big names that are still around today such as Erling Haaland from Man City, Mohamed Salah from Liverpool, Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid, Robert Lewandowski from Barcelona, and Cristiano Ronaldo from Al Nassr could possibly be included in the list.

However, the question is whether these names are willing to join PSG and fight to win the Champions League title. Even if there is, of course the possibility is very small. This means, it must be admitted, that PSG’s star shine has now entered its final stage.
