Northern Irish Rider Jack Oliver Dies after Crash During Kells Road Races

Northern Irish rider Jack Oliver died on Sunday afternoon after a crash during the Kells Road Races.

The red flag was waved and soon the organisation announced that there would be no more racing for the rest of the day.

According to a statement from the Irish police, the 22-year-old rider body was moved to the local hospital.

“Gardai and emergency services have attended the scene of a single vehicle collision at a closed racing circuit in Crossakiel Co. Meath, this afternoon, Sunday, 17th June 2022,” read the statement.

“The collision occurred at approximately 1:30pm and involved a motorcyclist.

“The motorcyclist, a man aged in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to Navan Hospital.” they added.

Jack’s death is the latest to rock the motorsport world following five fatalities at the Isle of Mann TT earlier this month.

His family confirmed the tragis news on social media, with his brother Robbie saying he died “doing what he loved”.

“As some may have heard our wee rocket has (gained) his angel wings at Kells road races doing what he loved best. I am sure that big grin was on full display!” Robbie wrote on Facebook.

“I honestly have no words  can I ask that you all can give my mother and father some space at this time and no phone calls please.” he added.

Jack secured a brilliant podium finish in his road racing debut at the Armoy Road Races in August, finishing second in the Sunflower Trophy.

The event at the Crossakiel circuit was the first national road race meeting in the Republic of Ireland since 2019, with large crowds anticipated.

“I’m total broken. I can’t copet with this. Always in my heart for ever son, love you forever,” Jack’s dad Tommy said.
